Dr. Audenaerd holds a Doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University, a Masters in Civil Engineering and Operations Research from Princeton University, a Masters in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Rutgers University and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University.
Dr. Audenaerd has practiced as a Lead Multi-Disciplinary System Engineer at the MITRE Corporation, with 25 years of experience in engineering modeling and design, economic, cost, and decision analysis for a variety of transportation-related problems.
Dr. Audenaerd has worked across the aerospace system design, operational and safety risk analyses, and economic impacts for manned and unmanned civil and military aviation and space missions. He has produced numerous papers and technical reports on topics including aircraft wake turbulence mitigation, aviation and space weather analyses, aeronautical information and data exchange, and aviation system resiliency.
Also having interests in surface transportation, Dr. Audenaerd has conducted research on safety, cybersecurity and maintenance for rail and public transit. Finally, he maintains a strong interest in multi-modal transportation applications, following his doctoral research in the subject.
Through his career, Dr. Audenaerd has supported a variety of government agencies at the federal and state levels working with FAA, NASA, NOAA, DHS, Census, DoD and others.
Dr. Audenaerd also teaches as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University for multiple departments. Beyond working and teaching, Audenaerd actively volunteers locally and nationally to elevate access to STEM learning for youth and disadvantaged populations.
